What was a normal day in New York came to be known as one of the most tragic days in the United States History. On September 11, 2001 virtually 3,000 citizens died due 19 al-Qaeda hijackers taking over four planes. The World Trade Center (twin towers) in New York City got hit by town commercial planes full of passengers. In this essay I will explain three reasons about 9/11, how people were affected by this tragic destruction, what was the World Trade Center? And the Terrorist.
First, the people who had heart and cared about the citizens, fire fighters, police men, and medical people had a strong heart. Those fire fighters, police men and medical people all risked their lives to help strangers that did know. Imagine that you had a family member inside one of those buildings and you just got a call saying that had passed away in a horrible tragedy. Now think about all the people that got a call saying that their loved ones has just pasted away.
Next, the World Trade Center was a very important place on this planet. The world trade center was built to trade with other continents and countries like Asia, China, Japan, Africa, South Africa and others. They trade stuff like food, drinks kitchen ware, bedroom ware, living room ware electronics. Money was a big part of the WTC the trade money with the different countries and continents. As many as 50,000 people work in the World Trade Center.
Last, the horrible people who did this tragic thing to this country are called al-Qaeda. They were found sometime between August 1988 and late 1989; it operates as a network comprising both a multinational, stateless army. Their consider a terrorist organization, Al-Qaeda has attacked civilian and military targets in countries, most notably the September 11 attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. in 2001. The U.S. government answered by launching the War on Terror.
In conclusion I feel that the events of 9/11...
...steel, 425,000 cubic yards of concrete, a total of 10,000 workers and 7 years, 2 buildings were created known as the World Trade Centers. It's more than its signature twintowers: it was a complex of seven buildings on 16-acres with its own zip code (10048). The construction of the buildings began in 1966 and was completed in April 1973, with the North tower opening 2 years prior of the South. They both consist of 110 floors, and were ranked as the tallest buildings in the world until the Sears Towers was built in 1974. The towers were built downtown-lower Manhattan Development Association by Chase Manhattan Bank chairman David Rockefeller who believed that the towers would benefit the city. Although the towers were a complete accomplishment 60 workers died during the construction. There were 43,600 windows and 99 elevators that can carry about 55 people with a 10,000 pound capacity and can travel up to 27 feet per second. The towers contained 430 businesses from 26 different countries and held up to 5,000 office workers. It had 6 basements and 3 Subway railway stations. Five different channel news stations were also in the Towers along with medical centers and banks. Many restaurants were also included in both Towers.

...streets. The diving between the people was mayhem. I finally I got to work, at the twintowers, walking up the stairs to the 94th floor. To get todays assignments; Bumping into my boss on the way up. It wasn’t until I had just sat down I had caught something in the corner of my eye but the moment I looked at the object it was too late, a huge, snow white plane has heading straight for the tower. I ran raising all alarms for the soon impact but they already knew. About half of the workers on 94th floor had got to safety before it hit straight through the 86th floor, setting alight everything in its path.
All you could see was evil reds of the murderous fires. At this point my life stopped, my work was no more and I was trapped in a burning building about to die, then I heard a scream coming from the window. New York rush hour had stopped dead. I tried to get someone’s attention. However they see a white flag waving, undermined from the red sea across the building. The screams from the worker on fire or trapped filled the streets.
If there is a god why doesn’t he help me? I have been a good person and I have a life in front of me. By the looks of it god is punishing me for something but for what! He alarms have stopped ringing so this means everyone able to leave the building is out and safe, I just hope they can help us too. Wait! But there is another plane coming but its heading to the second twin...
...think that our workplace will become a place in where history would changed. We know that September 11, 2001 became a day that changed both this nation and the people. The real question here is, Did the fall of the TwinTowers mark the moment of terrorism in America; or have previous events been the calling to attack America? Over the years there have been significant terrorism attacks. By looking at pervious attacks it shows us how the changes in terrorism are carried out and shows the changes in how countries counter terrorist attacks. If we want to know that the TwinTowers where indeed the start of terrorism for America we should look at the history of terrorism, the methodology and the absence of unity America shows toward each other.
Looking and studying about the history of terrorism towards the United States, we see that the first attack towards the TwinTowers was the bombing in 1993 that was placed in a truck in the garaged of the building. Reading the book 102 Minutes, we see the perspective of the people who were trapped in the towers, but it also gives us the information about the 1993 bombing. This book states, “The 1993 bombing marked it as an icon and target.” ( Dwyer and Flynn 21). Reading this we can see that the September 11 attack on the TwinTowers was not the first attempt ever made. In my opinion the bombing of 1993 was a...
The original World Trade Center was a complex with
seven buildings in Manhattan, New York City. The
whole complex opened on April 4, 1973, and was destroyed
in 2001. The central part of the complex was represented
by two towers: north and south tower. They called them
"the twins" because they were exactly the same. Till 2001
the twins were the highest skysraper in the world. They
had 110 floors.
On Tuesday morning, 11-th of September 2001, 19 terrorists from the
Islamist militant group al-Qaeda kidnaped four passenger jets. The
kidnappers crashed two planes into the TwinTowers. Both towers
collapsed within two hours. Both towers was burnt down. The
whole world was astonish.
FIRST AND SECOND PLANE
At 8:45 a.m. the first plane crashed into the north tower
of the World Trade Centre. 20 minutes later, the second
plane hit the south tower. Flames and smoke came out
of the towers and the people who were working there
tried to escape.
THIRD AND FOURTH PLANE
At about 9:40 a.m. a third plane with 58 people on board
crashed into the Pentagon. About 200 people were killed.
A fourth plane probably intended to crash into the White
House, but the pilots lost control of the plane and it
crashed into a...
...This essay was written to inform people about the rebuilding of the World Trade Center, and its new standards for its new green technology.
September 11th, 2001. This was one of the darkest days in all of American history. A terrorist attack on the U.S.A. that left so many horrified for the future. The event of 9-11 emphasizes how important it is for Americans to stand together, thus revealing that because of negative events, a positive future will soon follow.
As previously known, the United States faces many problems involving the environment. Now, a most amazing discovery among environmental issues has been found. The rubble of the world trade center could be a key point in rebuilding our ecosystem. This rubble, which causes so much pain for all those affected, is a horrifying sight to see. But this rubble is the basis for a future that sees a greener world.
The greenest skyscraper in American history is being built out of the remains of the world trade center. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a verification system that was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. They use this system to determine if a building, or even a community, is energy efficient. These standards include improving energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions, indoor environmental quality, and intelligent resource management.
The new world trade center complex qualifies for the LEED gold certification, the next highest attainable status...
...When the TwinTowers collapsed on September 11, 2001, they made a sound heard around New York as a roar, or distant thunder. The South Tower was the first to go. Its upper floors tilted briefly before dropping, and driving the building straight down to the ground. Many people died, and many others were lucky enough to make it out alive. Twenty-nine minutes later the North Tower collapsed with much the same result as the first. The two symbols of America’s economy were gone, and not even the so-called World Trade Center Seven, a relatively new forty-seven-floor tower that stood independently across the street from the complex, remained standing. The building burned persistently throughout the day, and that evening became the first steel-frame high-rise in history to fall solely because of fire. (Online)
There was wider damage then just that to the World Trade Center buildings and on the scale of ordinary disasters it was heavy. For thirty years or so the TwinTowers had stood above the streets as all tall buildings do, as a bomb of sorts, a warehouse for the prodigious energy originally required to raise so much weight so high. Now, in a single morning, the towers released that energy back into the city. Massive steel beams flew through the neighborhood like gargantuan spears, penetrating subway lines and underground passages to depths of thirty feet,...
...building the towers fell over. What people tend to over look when it comes to causes of disasters are the things that lead up to it. In my opinion there were many things that could have been done to prevent the attacks of that fateful day. In this case I am not talking about preventing the event from occurring but I am talking about preventing the tower from falling down. There are things that could have been done leading up to during and after the attack that would have prevented the towers from tumbling down. Anything and everything from the material used to the design, from the type of windows to the width of the desks could have helped prevent the twintowers from collapsing in New York. When all the evidence is looked at, in such manner and in the right point of view, it can be thought to an arguable extent that the world trade center collapse could have been prevented even with the jet liners flying into the side of them both. When it all comes down to the point the plane crash might have been the catalyst but was not the definite or only cause that brought towers down.
When it comes to doing a structural analysis of a structure a complete breakdown of everything that has ever had to do with that structure at any point in time. The first thing that should be examined is from the beginning is the design flaws of the world trade center. Since this was a ground breaking project the...
...PETRONAS TWINTOWERS AND THE PROJECT PLANNING CYCLE
PROF. TAN SRI DR. SULAIMAN BIN MAHBOB
PROJECT PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
SYAHRUL NIZZAM BIN NORDIN
OCTOBER 1, 2012
In many developing countries including Malaysia, project planning has been criticized by the World Bank and other organizations for the lack of executing projects, such as delays, corruption, etc. However, project planning is becoming an “increasingly important role in the public administration of developing countries” and “have become critical components of development assistance and basic building blocks in the development process” (Rondinelli 1).
In every project planning, there is a basic process, and this process is called the project planning and management cycle which consists of twelve stages. As many may know, the Petronas TwinTowers is one of the biggest and most successful mega projects in Malaysia, as it helps create a refine image for Kuala Lumpur, increasing attraction for many tourists.
STAGES OF PROJECT PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT CYCLE
1. The first stage of this project planning and management cycle is Project Identification and Definition. In this stage, microanalysis and macro analysis are performed, including set up of immediate and long-range objectives, identification of beneficiary groups or target areas. When Tun Mahathir, Malaysia’s fourth Prime Minister took office, he had a...
