Tittle: impact of zia’s islamization policies on society.
Essence of Zia period was islamization which brought drastic changes in the life of women, religious disparity, sectarianism, upcoming of terrorism parties with the mask of jihadi, refugee problem and increase use of drugs as showed in the film khamosh pani and articles. Zia president of Pakistan from august 1978-august 1988 was a dictator for initial period of his tenure. He came after Zulifiqar Bhutto: considered as liberal politician. Ziaulhaq’s ideology was different to one who preceded him. First thing Zia did was changing laws in coherence of sharia the Islamic law. According to Zia:
‘Pakistan is like Israel, an ideological state. Take out Judaism from Israel and it will collapse like a house of cards. Take Islam out of Pakistan and make it a secular, it would collapse’. (Tariq Ali 2002:156) This statement of Zia shows how important was religion to him. He passed several ordinances in same context and linked his every activity with it.as he used it his basic tool for governance. He imposed zakat and ushr act 1980 which made obligation on everyone coming into sahib e nisab bracket to put 10% of their income in the banks so zakat could be taken out of their incomes and brought many people to tax bracket. This act widened the gap between shiahs and Sunnis as this act was incoherence with Sunni law of tax not shiahs.it brought the divisions among them and Shiah party came forward and protested for their manifesto with backing of Iran government. Establishment of federal sharia court was another step in his islamisation policy in which anyone could challenge any law and prove it according to Islamic teachings which brought many changes in laws. But on the darker aspect many groups started using it for their interests, as Zia Islam was more inclined towards Sunni Islam so shiah had issues on the laws which both sect differ upon on their implementations but...

a.Define public policy.
Public policy is both the written and unwritten laws of a society that suggest the moral, ethical and social behaviors of people (Capalli, 1997, p. 393). Some public policies are common understandings among a group of people that exist in a particular locale, while other public policies affect the whole of society within a certain nation. Public policies guide a society in the direction that the people believe that it should be headed. However, because economic and social factors are constantly changing within the social order, public policies change as well to meet the varying needs and goals of the people. When unwritten public policies are formally documented it is to ensure that the policies within a society are enforced and that there is a universal support for the public policy, regardless of objections to it.
b. Describe your local government as it impacts your work environment. Explain how the state in which you work affects the policies of your local government.
The local government is part of the working environment. However, many entities within the local government directly impact the manner in which the organization functions. For example, the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce...

DEADLINE: June 27, 2013
Problem 1: (2 pts)
Two contractors (1 and 2) placed a bid on a road construction project. They were each asked to
provide percentile estimates of the time (x, in years) it would take the road to undergo a major
maintenance after its completion. We seek to maximize this time variable x, as larger values
imply better structural integrity as well as cheaper projection of the net present value for
The CDF for contractor 1, F1(x) is as follows:
The CDF for contractor 2, F2(x) is as follows:
(a) Graph the CDF for each contractor.
(b) Calculate analytically the expected value of x for each contractor. [Hint: See Slide #27 on
(c) Based alone on your computed expected values from (b), which contractor would you
(d) What analysis can you supplement with (c) to improve your recommendation?

The number of cyber attacks (𝑋) to E-Lake, an online auction site, is Poisson with mean arrival
rate of 30 attacks per hour. Show detailed calculations to answer the following:
(a) What is the probability that there is no attack in the next minute?
(b) Calculate the minimum value of 𝑥 (per minute) that satisfies Pr 𝑋 ≤ 𝑥 > 0.98.

Our criminal justice system demands a continuous evolution to create success within the department. The last 60 years society has provoked change with our criminal justice system. These changes vary across three different areas inside the departments; corrections, courts, and policy. Corrections had a large advancement in their policy with PREA. PREA is the prison rape elimination act and protects offenders and employees. The criminal justice court system made adjustments to policies on self-defense by creating the standard your ground law. A major policy change took place in the state of Arizona due to illegal immigration. The policy was show your paper law. Identifying the opportunities for cooperation between the different elements of the criminal justice system and implementing those policies.
In the 1980’s and 90’s, a “get tough on crime” mentality permeated society leading to changes in sentencing laws for inmates in a correctional facility. This has led to insensitivity over the flight of incarcerated persons, including false, inhumane beliefs such as; those perceived as lesbians, gay, bisexual or transgender bring sexual violence upon himself or herself, those who have committed violent crimes deserve to be sexually assaulted. “The purpose of the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) is to establish a zero-tolerance standard for the incidence of sexual...
...ZIA-UL-HAQ AND ISLAMIZATION
When General Zia-ul-Haq took over as the Chief Martial Law Administrator on July 5, 1997, Islamization was given a new boost. General Zia-ul-Haq was a practicing Muslim who raised the slogan of Islam. The Islamic sentiment has always been fully alive in Pakistan. Various governments have used this to their benefit. There are people who doubt Zia’s reasons for raising the Islamic Slogan; whether it was for political purposes to counter balance Bhutto’s appeal or was it to enforce Islam in its true sense.
In his first address to the nation, he declared that Islamic laws would be enforced and that earnest attention would be devoted towards establishing the Islamic society for which Pakistan has been created. General Zia wanted to bring the legal, social, economic and political institutions of the country in conformity with the Islamic principles, values and traditions in the light of Quran and Sunnah, to enable the people of Pakistan to lead their lives in accordance to Islam.
On December 2, 1978, General Zia-ul-Haq delivered a nationwide address on the occasion of the first day of theHijra calendar. He did this in order to usher in an Islamic system to Pakistan. In the speech, he accused politicians of exploiting the name of Islam, saying that “many a ruler did what they pleased in the name of Islam.”
After assuming power and arresting former leader Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on charges of murder, the task...
... I never thought I would ever say this, but I am starting to hate football. It has long been the sport I, as many other have enjoyed for years. No matter what event is going on Sunday, people will skip it to watch football. Maybe that is why just about every wedding occurs on Saturday and not Sunday, to make sure men don’t miss their own wedding. But, after taking this class I find myself disliking the sport more because of the role it play in development of masculinity to young boys. I used to think of sports as just a way to enjoy ones self and nothing more. But, this class has taught me how sports share a relation in society with the subject of race, gender, and class. And in doing so I have seen just how negative a part football does play in society. But it is not just the actually sport, but movies about certain sports in general. I used to think sports movies were used to display the American dream and coming out on top, but they also display the social processes of race, class and gender.
Varsity Blues is not just about sports, but is also considered a coming of age movie. What I see now is how the movie show the negative side of sports in how the ideas of race and gender are seen. The film takes place in West Canann Texas, where as any place in the state football is seen as a religion and way of life. Jonathan Moxon is the backup quarterback who is not just a good athlete, but intelligent as well. He will be attending Brown University...
