Others claim that it is better to start work after school and gain experience in the world of work. Recent decades have seen significant trends towards higher education. Transformative learning is the process of “using a prior interpretation to construe a new or revised interpretation of the meaning of one’s experience in order to guide future action" (Mezirow, 2003). It is also a process where “an education that is transformative redirects and reenergizes those who pause to reflect on what their lives have been and take on new purposes and perspectives” (Will McWhinney et al., 2003). We have been enculturated in an environment that prizes the prestige of higher education, often with an undertone suggesting that post secondary schooling is a necessary step on the road to success. This experience is flooded with order. Schedules are central to any regular day at school, and the docimological process determines one's success in how well they have learned the material of each subject. Both John Dewey and John Taylor Gatto write about dichotomies within the schooling system. While Dewey contemplates traditional versus progressive schooling, Gatto suggests that the current system is too regimented, and that an increase in student freedom would lead to a more positive learning environment. The concepts of freedom and education will thus be examined with regard to both Dewey and Gatto's respective ideological orientations.

First of all, work experience during higher education, and in particular that related to study, has a positive effect on employment activity because experience is what the majority of employers want. For example, we can easily find that many of the job or career advertisements emphasize 3 to 4 years experience in the particular field. According to my experience, I also preferred experience over education when I tried to designate new members as my team. I selected 7 applicants who have some experience out of 120 candidates applying for the position in order that I wanted to start the project immediately.
