Jesus and Muhammad are both known as religious leaders who founded the largest religions in the world. Both men have affected humanity and laid down many principles to live by. Although they had the same "call of duty", they were definitely two different types of people. Jesus is said to be the Son of God, while Muhammad is a Messenger of God. Both Jesus and Muhammad are known for their methods in establishing and strengthening each respective religion. This paper will compare and contrast the lives and history of Jesus and Muhammad, describe how both men had deaths that had an impact on their respective religions, how each of the men are worshipped, and how their messages are being carried out today.
Jesus was born around 2,000 years ago to a devout Jewess named Mary and her husband Joseph, a carpenter (Fisher, 2005, p.288). According to Gospels of Matthew and Luke, Jesus was conceived by a miracle of the Holy Spirit while Mary was still a virgin. They also reported that Jesus was born in Bethlehem because the Roman emperor had decreed that all families register for a census in their ancestral hometowns. After making the journey to Bethlehem, Mary and Joseph had to stay in a stable, because the inn was full. Jesus was born there in the stable among the animals. According to Luke, poor shepherds, who had been visited by angels carrying the news of the savior’s birth, paid their respects to the new baby by bringing gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh, which confirmed his divine kingship.
Not much is known about Jesus’ life up until he was 30, except that he had always shown a close connection with God, and referred to Him as Abba, which translates to “Father” (Fisher, 2005, p.289). At the age of 30, Jesus went to John the Baptist and asked to be baptized. John did not want to perform the baptism because Jesus was believed to be sinless, but he performed it anyway. Afterward, Jesus took a 40-day retreat in the desert where he was tempted by Satan, but he...
...Jesus and Muhammad
Throughout history many religions have originated. Some of them are philosophical and others are more spiritual. Tales have been told and scriptures have been written. Religion has been connected to great men all through history. Of all the written accounts, two men seem to stand out more than any others. They are Jesus and Muhammad. They were both influential spiritual leaders. Jesus is associated with the Christian religion while Muhammad is of the Islamic faith.
The two religions share many things in common as do the two men. Both religions are monotheistic. Each man shares a strong belief and connection to the one and only one God, or Creator. The commonalities the two men and religions share are many but so are their differences.
Muhammad never knew his father. His father died before he was born. After the death of his mother Muhammad lived with his uncle. At a young age Muhammad was identified by a Christian monk as a prophet (Fisher, 2005). He married when he was 25 and at the age of 40 made a spiritual retreat where he was visited by the angel Gabriel. He returned from the retreat shaken and unsure how to continue his teachings. He was confused about his new found responsibilities and concerned he would face ridicule over being a prophet (Fisher, 2005). A few years after the encounter with Gabriel...
...Biography of Muhammad
“O Children of Israel! Surely, I am the messenger of Allah to you, verifying that which is before me of the Torah and giving the good news of a Messenger who will come after me whose name will be Ahmed” (Qur'an, 61:6). This was the prophetic announcement of the coming of the Prophet Muhammad by Jesus Christ. Muhammad was able achieve this status as a prominent leader through his ability to unify the Arab nation while in political power and also as a religious leader, led the nation of Islam to the knowledge of the one true God. Muhammad sallallahu ^alayhi wa salam was one of the most prominent leaders in the Islamic nation, not only in a religious aspect but also on a secular one.
The Prophet Muhammad was born on August 29, 570 C.E. at Mecca. His birthplace is now designated as the origin of the Islamic religion. Muhammad spent his childhood in an orphanage after the death of his father (Kikim). On the return from a pilgrimage to Medina, Muhammad’s mother died when he was only six years old. He was then raised by his grandfather Abd al Muttalib. At the age of eight, his grandfather was killed by Muhammad’s own uncle Abu Talib (Kikim). Muhammad had a very turbulent childhood characterized by living in various homes, which made him the person he became in his later years.
During Muhammad’s adolescent years, there were no laws or order in...
After reading Gospel of Mark and seeing Joshua, which Director is Mel Gibson, 2004, and a Passion of Christ, Director Jon Purdy, 2002, I thought Jesus I thought what a great guy, no wonder why he has so many followers. In this paper I am going to talk about each movie and then a Gospel of Mark and then I am going to relate them.
First of all I would like to talk about Joshua, the movie started with a stranger coming to town that needed help to glue back their community that was why he was so successful. He had helped everyone that is why he won everyone’s heart so quickly. Joshua was a great guy who knew what bible is all about and tried to teach people that in subliminal way. I think that teaching by showing example is the best way and also the easiest to learn. Sometimes people might feel stressed to be a first ones’ to do something, to standout, be different. But if somebody is teaching others by example and showing the way it is much easier to follow him/her. In Joshua directors might have gone too far with some details, when he healed the blind girl I thought this is too excessive because from what I have heard Jesus was not all about showing off. Then other scene came around when a guy fell on the ground and died, Joshua got his back from dead all alone and that was effective because the lightening and the words he said were all in the right time and place. Joshua said “You just fell” and he did...
...The Life of Jesus Christ
The story of Jesus begins even before he was born. We may think how can this be, but it’s true and John the fisherman, a disciple of Jesus, puts it this way:
‘In the very beginning, before anything else existed, the Word (Jesus) existed. The Word was with God and the Word was God.’
Mankind had forgotten the existence of God completely and had sinned beyond pardoning. Therefore, God sent His son Jesus Christ into the world to remind us that there is God, to set aside those from doing errant and give eternal life to whosoever believed in Him.
The Bible says, ``If you keep on sinning, it shows that you belong to Satan … But the Son of God (Jesus) came to destroy these works of the devil. The person who has been born into God`s family does not make a practice of sinning, because now God`s life is in him``(1 John 3:8-9). Christ Jesus came into the world to save us from bondage and Satan.
God chose the right time for Jesus to come
God prearranged that the time was right for His Son (Jesus) to come into the world. It was the right time in the world and was also the right time in God`s great plan. From the beginning of the world, God had prepared for this. This should both surprise and impress us, because God showed his love for men.
Galatians 4:4, 5 tell that, “But...

In regard to history and also the belief of so many people, these religions are taught or learned from the messenger (one who reveals the messages from God). Phipps has described the beginning of the situations where Islam and...
...Jesus Christ and Muhammad are the Gods looked upon by all Christians and Muslims as their religious leader. Each religions thoughts and ideas are similar with certain variances. Do Christians and Muslims look upon the same God but use a different name?
Jesus Christ is known as the Son Of God, his life story is told in the four Gospels written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. All around the world the birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated on December 25 although in the gospels the exact day and year are not agreed upon. Jesus was born the son of Mary and Joseph a carpenter from Galilee. According to the gospels Joseph was not the actual father, it is written that Mary was still a virgin when she conceived Jesus by the Holy Spirit. Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem and was visited by Sheppard’s and three Kings who brought gifts to the Messiah.(Little 1988) Jesus grew up working as a carpenter like Joseph, when he was 12 years old he was found in the Temple talking to the rabbis about the Torah with a great knowledge about the subject. When Jesus was around 30 years old John in the river Jordan baptized him. John did not want to baptize Jesus because he was the Messiah, but Jesus repented the sins of all humanity. After his baptism, Jesus spent 40 days in the...

There are hundreds of thousands of religions all over the world. Some of them we know about and some of them we don’t. Usually, one thing that most religions have in common is a founder or the head figure of the religion that any particular religion revolves around. This one person is the teacher and everyone else is the follower. Two major religions that are still extremely active in today’s world are Christianity and Islam. These two religions are very similar in many ways, yet unique in their own right. One similarity is their belief in God, and one difference is who the messenger is. Christian’s believe it is Jesus, who is the son of God, and Islam’s believe it is Mohammad, who is the messenger of God. Throughout the course of this paper I will trace the lives of Jesus and Mohammad historically; compare the impact of the death of each person on his perspective religion; describe the ways each individual was and is worshiped; and explain how their messages are being carried out in the world today.
There are many different views on exactly when and where Jesus was born. Many believe that he was born in Bethlehem. The most common story and the one that I grew up hearing was that Jesus was the son of God, born to the Virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit. He was born in a small stable among the animals on what is...
...Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad are today considered as three of the greatest prophets in the world. They portrayed themselves as religious figures as well as the messengers of god. There teachings are believed by many people and they have many followers. While Moses and Muhammad are projected as the prophets, Jesus is considered to be the son of god. They established a monotheistic belief and believed that they were the only god and there is only one god to follow. It was thought that both Jesus and Muhammad were the messengers from god carrying the same message. However, people believed in the experience and the influence of each, which led to the formation of two different religions. While Moses was called the founder of the religion of Israel.
Moses became the leader of the Israelites after leading them out of slavery from Egypt. He was believed as the “servant of god” by his followers. While leading them out of Egypt on the way to Mount Sinai, Moses was given a set of rules by god, called The Ten Commandments to give to his people. The Ten Commandments stated the 10 rules that would guide people to be good. The rules included something like one most not steal, lie, commit adultery or do anything that would harm others. The meaning of the Ten Commandments was to spread love among people and lead them to live their life in a correct way. Moses was appointed as a prophet by god....
