The Importance of Education
Why do we say that everyone must obtain an education to be successful in life? This is one of many questions that people ask about education. Some people ask: what does acquiring an education do for someone that just wants to go to work after he or she finishes high school? He or she may think that it is possible just to graduate from high school and start working. Well it is possible, in some occupations but for those people who want to have a large amount of money and have the best job, well they need an education. I will talk about many reasons that an education is important and many things that will affect his or her life if he or she has an education. Everyone should get an education so that they can have strong confidence, better job, and more money. Having an education helps everyone have confidence in his or her selves. People who do not finish school seem to always feel like they cannot do anything and that they do not know anything. Everyone in the world is not going to know everything there is in this world and they are not all going to be smart and have everything that someone else has, but everyone in the world should have some kind of confidence. People who have an education are more likely to have more confidence than people who do not have an education because they know that more than likely the employer will hire the person with an education rather than someone that just has a high school diploma. Confidence sometimes helps people because they do not worry about losing their jobs and or finding a job, unless a depression hits like in the world in the year of 2010. Having confidence can be important in everyone’s life. When he or she has an education it can help his or her confidence in many ways. People who have an education can get better jobs than those that do not have an education. I say this because there are many more businesses that only hire people who have an education than there are that hire people with only a high school education. I have looked at many jobs over the last few weeks and yes there are some that will hire someone right out of high school with a diploma. For those people who want to make enough money to care for a family they need to get an education so that he or she can get a good paying job. Some jobs pay you by the experience you have and the degree that you have. Job openings are easier for people with an education to fill because when you fill out an application there is always a place for your education levels to go and, sometimes that is the most important part of the application. Education is also important when you have been in a job for a while and you want to apply for a new position that is higher up such as a teacher wanting to become a principal, that teacher is going to need a good education to be promoted in her job. People who have a good education normally will get promoted in their jobs before someone that does not have a good education and the time on their job that others do. Just about every good job in the world asks that you have some type of education beyond high school. You can not be a doctor or lawyer by just saying that you have an education or that you just want to work in these businesses. I will show a chart of jobs that require you to have an extended education to work in and jobs that do not require you to have a college education to work in. Jobs that you must have an education| Jobs that you may not have an education| Doctor or Nurse| Substitute teacher|

...If you look in to our economy you see that education plays a major factor. Education is one the key factors of being successful. Not only does the individual gain an advantage from having an education, but its economy also benefits. For the individual, their benefits would lay in basically the quality of life having economy returns the favor of having an education with a sustained and satisfying job, hypothetically speaking. For the economy, the potential benefits lie in economic growth and the increase of shared values that support bringing the economy together socially. Depending on the individual and how far there willing to continue their education, depends where you will be financially wise, in the future.
Troubles of a High School dropout What is a High School dropout? A high school dropout could be a student who was enrolled in school during the previous school year and for whatever reason chose not to enroll at the beginning of the current school year. Another example of a drop out would be a student that has not graduated from high school or finished a state or district-approved education program.
Reasons why students become High School Dropouts Students who choose to drop out of school have many different reasons. Some that may seem ?good at the time? and then there are others that may not, depending on the student and their situation. Rationale reasons of why students may drop...
As everyone knows or at least should know you need an education to try to do virtually everything, the definition given in any dictionary would be “receiving or giving systematic instruction” However the word itself is tough to outline because it is much more than the definition due to the fact education is different for everyone; you and I could have completely different perspective on the topic because it has different meanings to both of us you could hate it I could love it.
Asking any person why they got to school if they gave you a straight forward answer would say (A) “I have No Choice“ or (B) “So I can receive an honest education for myself and live the life I would like Say you asked them why if they answered (B) “So I will visit move on to attend a college/university and find an honest job for myself”, which is all fine and dandy but no one seems to be paying attention to the big picture “THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE GUARANTEE” that getting a highschool education or college education can land you some employment. Yes you need an education to do things in life but does that make you entitled to them, i highly doubt it; having the grades and everything is fine it shows that you are a well educated person this is very helpful in life, maybe allowing this said person to apply his/her Education to the chosen profession. Testing the true...
...society, young people are consistently told that the key to a successful future is receiving post-secondary education. Many teenagers find themselves wondering, “what is the importance of school?” With the recent success of entrepreneurs and businessmen who lack university/college diplomas, many students begin wondering what is the real importance of post-secondary education. To the dismay of many young people, school is one of the most important parts on the road to success for individuals. By attending post-secondary schools, individuals have a higher chance of finding a job; higher paying salary, and more prepared and ready to make sensible choices.
Forbes magazine posted the ten highest and lowest income jobs for 2012, the highest being anesthesiologists at $232,830, and the lowest being fast food cooks at $18,720. It can not be a coincidence that all of the ten highest-paying jobs require at least seven years of post-secondary education while the ten worst paying jobs have no post-secondary education required. It is no coincidence at all, as the higher paying jobs require individuals to possess a lot more knowledge in their field. For example, anesthesiologists are required to monitor individuals before, during, and after surgical procedures by monitoring patients’ vital organs to ensure that no complications arise. This requires over sixteen years of post-secondary...
...DESCRIBE YOUR OWN PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION. WHAT EDUCATION MEANS TO YOU AND HOW IT CAN BE ACHIEVED, WHAT METHOD OF LEARNING YOU BELIEVE IS THE BEST, WHAT ADVANTAGES DISTANCE LEARNING AND PERSONALIZED LEARNING HAS ETC.
To describe 'education' in the simplest form is the process of teaching and or learning. This encompasses the theory and the process of achieving enlightenment or knowledge and understanding.
All human beings on this planet require knowledge to survive and without it even biblically it has been mentioned that people perish. It is therefore important in my personal life to be knowledgeable enough in all areas of human endeavour. I would like to describe my personal belief about knowledge epistemologically according to George F. Kneller, 1964. “Knowledge is a universal matter and aims to discover what is involved in the process of knowing. It asks questions such as: Is there something common to all the different activities to which we apply the term “ knowing”? Is knowing a special sort of mental act? If so, what is the difference between knowledge and belief? Can we know anything beyond the objects with which our senses acquaint us?
The theory of knowledge has ideas about how people think and feel despite not having a claim to an explanation scientifically. I believe just as Kneller, 1964 asserted that there are about 6 different types of knowledge as explained below:
1. REVEALED KNOWLEDGE
This is the kind of...
...Recently, John Taylor Gatto published an article titled “Against School” in the Harper’s Magazine, which argues that students should not go to school to receive education. It seems that Gatto’s article is influenced by the following factors. There’s one case about a woman who teaches her children at home and she was taken to court because she didn’t report her curriculum to the government. This case can explain Gatto’s opinion that the system restricts not only students but also teachers. Meanwhile, it proves that people can be well educated in other ways instead of going to school. George W. Bush proposed the action of “No Child Left Behind” to enhance students’ ability of reading, math and science is lopsided. This policy can only improve students’ academic ability rather than their other abilities.
The author thinks that the education system confines teachers to their way of teaching. He mentions that he tried to defy custom but the “the empire struck back” (Gatto, 33). The system doesn’t allow anyone to disobey it. It just wants to conform everyone no matter if you teach or study at school or at home. In the case of Mary Foley, she teaches her children at home and her method proved to be successful. Her daughter had received a full scholarship to the University of Massachusetts at Amberst. She uses her own way to teach her children. She is that kind of teacher who Gatto thinks should be formed. However, she was taken to court by the local...
The importance of college education has a direct and profound impact on the world but more importantly on me. As Nelson Mendela stated “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” By gaining knowledge through college education I am ensuring a better future for myself and in turn I am ensuring a better future for those around me thus changing the world one small step at a time.
Collegeeducation provides tools, knowledge and preparation necessary to compete in today’s tough job markets. As a current fourth year medical student, I am supplementing my medical education with an associates degree in health administration so that I can gain an advantage and also to prepare myself for future leadership roles within the medical profession. Medical field is a field in which constant advances and progresses are made and to stay current and to progress with the times, one must constantly further himself through education. An article in the Heritage Foundation suggest that the base foundation of the U.S. healthcare is the ability to provide the best healthcare. Having said this, we must understand that having the best healthcare means training our medical professionals and investing into new technologies and education so that they are able to provide the best healthcare. The article suggests that there is a shortfall in...
...The Importance of EducationEducation and learning is one of the most important processes in today’s society.
Today’s youth are tomorrow’s teachers. In the “banking method” or education by memorization, the student’s are not being taught; they are only expected to memorize the material, which is not actually a learning process. Although there are a lot of misconceptions to the “Banking method”, I think that there are also a lot of good to this method as well.
I think that the teacher’s job is to fill the students with their knowledge, but I don’t think this is the only job of the teacher. The teacher also needs to present the material in a way that is interesting to the students. The teachers should not only give the information and materials to the student, but also make sure the technique they use allows the student to critically apply the material to their real life. They also need to be able to learn the material in a way that that will make them remember it even after they take the test.
My English teacher in grade school used the “banking concept” method of teaching and all we ever did in her class was take notes and then study the notes and have a test on it. I did not learn much that year, because I only memorized the material so that I would do well on the test. The next year in my English class I felt really behind because I did not really know what I was doing. Most people don’t learn well just by...
...above the poverty level in America. A college education is a must if you want to keep up with the economy today. Having an education was not important a couple of centuries ago, but today’s society is different where more than a high school diploma is needed to make it in the economy (Pretlow III & Wathington, 2012). Minorities are the one’s most affected from lack of education mainly because of high tuition fees and rates.
A couple of centuries ago, education was not required to live above the poverty level. Since the colonial days, government and community leaders have been trying to come up with different ways to effectively educate children. In the colonial days, children were taught trades instead of a general education because unskilled workers were needed. Most of the students, taught by tutors, on an one on one basis, or in a small group were uneducated because they went to school to just learn about religion. The majority of those students were Partisans or Congregationalists. Having an education in religion started to decline as different people migrated to America. Thomas Jefferson and other reformers also help change the way education was taught in America because they believed education should have not included religious beliefs. Reformers also opposed the idea of only the wealthy being able to obtain an education. Reformers spoke...
