Reconfirmed Thesis: While Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, I believe That Suicide is wrong.
While Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, I believe That Suicide is wrong. Suicide ("to kill oneself") is the act of intentionally causing one's own death. Have you ever known someone who’s committed or tried to commit suicide and thought, “I wish I would’ve done something, said something, to stop it from happening?” Well two years ago a good friend of mine did end up committing Suicide. I don’t exactly know why he did it because he was at college at the time while I was still at high school. When I found out about it I was shocked and in dis belief that someone my age that I knew could be dead at such a young age. According to the Rabbi it was a Chemical imbalance in his brain that caused him to do it. For too many people there is a stigma attached to suicide that prevents those contemplating the act from seeking help. Depression, despair or low self-esteem is common precursors to suicide. But while these conditions are often the result of a physical condition, such as an abnormality of the chemistry of the brain, they are seen by many people as personality flaws, weaknesses that can be overcome by force of will. Those who have contemplated suicide are often reluctant to share their experiences because they fear being labeled. Survivors of those who have killed themselves are reluctant to talk about what they saw or did prior to the suicide for fear of community reaction. And some lawmakers, who control the financing needed to create or maintain suicide prevention programs, are reluctant to devote scarce resources to what they see as a personal failing, rather than a societal issue. (http://trib.com/special-section/suicide/article_aeb12598-76c4-5e37-9110-566df9fa1142.html) A suicide attempt is a clear indication that something is gravely wrong in a person’s life. No matter the race or age of the person; how rich or poor they are, it is true that most people who commit suicide have a mental or emotional disorder. A social networking site can be defined as an online service that is based around the building and reflecting of social relations among individuals with common interests or social ties (Boyd & Ellison, 2007). Social networking sites such as Friendster, Linkedin, Spoke, Face book, MySpace and Twitter all vary slightly, yet the one main feature they have is that they enable users to create a profile within the website to represent themselves and allows users to interact through email, instant messaging and other integrated communication channels within the site (Papacharissi, 2009). These...

...Suicide has always been an objective of primary interest and main concern to people of different cultures and historical periods. Suicide as a phenomenon has been discussed and described in literature, philosophy, and sociology. There are various definitions of suicide that have been proposed by the writers and researchers, such as the intentional act of killing oneself, the act of terminating life, and the act of deliberate self-destruction. Some difficulties arise when we try to explain suicide specifically because the nature of suicide is very complex, and it is hard to justify suicidal behavior or distinguish it from other behavior. For example, a person, who knows that smoking leads to the serious health risks but deliberately engages in this activity and dies consequently, has not committed suicide. On the other hand, if a mentally ill individual arranges the circumstances for his or her deaths (by cutting veins, jumping off buildings, etc.), we can say that this person has committed suicide.
In America, suicide rates are going up rapidly since 1999. But in our modern society, if a person commits suicide, it does not mean that that this person is bad and fragile. All of us experience problems during some periods of our lives. But the main point is that some people know how to handle these problems and some of them are getting lost because...
...friend’s mom from back country. She tells me son, something bad happened, I dint understand what she was mumbling, crying and spitting out fragments of words, but what got my attention was “suicide”. I figured something big must have happened; I speak to a different member of the family and find out that he committed suicide. Munjal was his name, my childhood friend living in India. I drop the phone from my hand, shocked, lost all my senses. The last thing I recall is speaking to him on the phone 1 week ago and how he was telling me all his problems he is having with studies and relationship. I couldn’t advice him much since I was too busy but deep inside I knew he is weak to manage all this on his own but strong enough to not resort to suicide. I ask myself, why do people commit suicide, what could possibly get into their mind to make them think they have no other choice but to end their life.
There are many reasons why someone would think about committing suicide. A death of a family member or loss of a loved one can lead to suicide. Loosing someone is often too much for other loved members to handle and it adds more stress on top of their stress which provokes them to think of committing suicide. Often a suicide in a family can cause another suicide. For example if an elder member commits suicide due to unable to handle stress and...

Romeo and Juliet is a widely known tragic love story about two people. In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, light and dark imagery switch due to Romeo’s extreme behaviors.
In the beginning of the play, Romeo falls for a different girl, Rosaline. Most people, however, do not know about this because they either did not read the book properly or they just watched the movie. Romeo thought that she was perfect for him. Rosaline did not accept Romeo’s love so this caused him with great grief, until he met Juliet. This shows how Juliet can be depicted as Romeo’s guilty pleasure. He does not actually like Juliet at this moment when they meet. He just wants to mend his broken heart by finding a new girl. He even goes far to say, ‘This love feel I, that no love in this’ (1.1.171) to show his feelings of being hurt. Romeo believes that no one loves him. This quote shows Romeo’s unstable emotions by his complete devastation over one girl. He either is very happy or very depressed there is no middle ground, or in other words, he is black and white.
Another example where Romeo shows extreme behaviors is during Act II, scene II, “The Balcony Scene.” In this scene Juliet is on her balcony fantasizing about Romeo. Romeo overhears her and they begin to talk about their love for each other. When Juliet starts to worry about their family’s rivalry Romeo says, ‘My life were better ended by their hate,...

Adrian Vic David Balitaan

The Problem and its Background
Power and authority in school are the main reason why students use an aggressive behaviour towards these regular students. They use these aggression to be on the top of the food chain so that normal students will fear and bow after him. “Bullying is commonly regarded as an aspect of aggression” (Roland and Idsøe, 2001, p. 446). Masterson (1997) also said: “bullying is regarded as a form of aggression in which a person repeatedly harasses another person physically and/or psychologically”.
A large amount of students in the Philippines are suffering from harassment and bullying. A widespread of campus bullying frights DepEd as more and more students are becoming victims of bullying. This is why we chose this topics so that we can help the victims of bullying to recover. This will not get rid of bullying but our aim is to lessen the act bullying.
