It consists of a set of technologies and channels that are targeted at forming and enabling a massive community of participants to collaborate productively (Anthony 2010). Social media such as Twitter helps to connect businesses to customers in real-time and update of latest information. With organisation in a Multinational Corporation such as Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH), social media plays an important part as it is a social instrument of communication. Singapore Press Holdings Ltd consist of two media powerhouses- Singapore Press Holdings Group and Schibsted Group. The two companies headquarter are located in Singapore and Norway that derives a quarter of its revenue respectively (Patrick 2010). Therefore social media has become a platform for global business landscape. 2.Singapore Press Holdings Limited
Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) is Southeast Asia’s leading media organisation that engages minds and enrich live across multiple languages and platforms. SPH published newspaper in four different languages and produces more than 100 magazine titles in Singapore and the region, covering a wide range of interest from lifestyle to information technology (Benn 2009). Online media of SPH such as Stomp, omy.sg and The Straits Times RazorTV has become more accessible to the public. This helps to maintain people’s interest by updating of the latest news via websites. With its mission “to inform, educate and entertain”, social media such as twitter will be an advantage to this organisation as it will be able to communicate with different departments by updating through twitter.
Social media which is an instrument on communication incorporates online technology and methods to allow people to share content, personal opinions, perspective and insights into world issues and generally discuss the evolution of media in itself (Lyndsay 2007). It shares most of the following characteristics such as participation, openness, conversation, community and connectedness in which SPH can use it to communicate within their department. Participation in social media encourages more contribution and feedback from people who are interested in the latest news or update. There are rarely any barriers commenting and sharing of information and it uses traditional media to broadcast social media in a two-way conversation. This allows communities to form quickly and communicate effectively by sharing common interest, such as political issue, latest movie or television programs and linking it to sites, resources and people (Antony 2008). Twitter is commonly used as a social media; it gives a real-time information network that helps to connect to the latest information and news. It is considered one of the fastest ways to share information with people and a chance to reach and engaged to others. By exchanging of information, it can also help to create a positive global impact (Jack 2011). Such social network will allow SPH to update latest news through twitter. Staff in the organisation will be able to get first-hand information. The advantage of having twitter is to constantly engage with the staff and to ensure a close network of connections within the organisation (Venkat 2009). With twitter, it is possible to target a specific niche by following others from the industry and thus building contacts within it by receiving feedbacks in a casual and cost effective manner (Singh 2009).

Business Law 1 (LEG100)
As the prevalence of socialmedia continues to rise, consumers are recognizing ways in which socialmedia can direct them to better sources for purchasing. As a result, businesses are now jumping on the socialmedia bandwagon at a rapid pace, embracing social networks to achieve their marketing and business goals.
The four characteristics of a legally astute manager, include an acceptance of how important the law is to the success of the organization, a proactive attitude toward legal issues and regulations, the ability to use informed judgment when faced with decisions involving legal implications, and having the knowledge of specific laws, regulations, tools and resources. A socialmedia marketing manager must be specific in these qualifications due to the fairly new concept of socialmedia when comparing it to other avenues of marketing like television, print and radio.

A survey in the article, “The State of The News Media” concludes that 70% of Facebook users get their news from friends and family members via Facebook and 13% of users receive their news from news organizations that post their news through socialmedia sites. This survey proves that socialmedia sites are becoming pathways to news. The purpose of this article is to find out exactly how much consumers rely on Socialmedia sites such as, Facebook and twitter for their daily news and information. Socialmedia sites are not replacing news channels and websites, but rather socialmedia is becoming an additional way to stay informed in modern day news. ...are starting to become more active in social affairs. Social and digital media have made this possible because it has allowed them to have easy access to tool that can help them be active. These tools are their cellphones, computers, and their socialmedia websites. Even though today’s generation has everything they need to get involved in social affairs doesn’t mean they will get involved. Just because getting involved has become easy doesn’t mean all of today’s generation will. That’s the problem that I have noticed because teenagers don’t always get involved simply because it’s easy. Sometimes they want to work for it because they aren’t just going to get involved because they feel like it and it’s easy, but maybe because of the values they have acquired from their family or because the cause they choose to follow is one close to their hearts. Sometimes simply clicking like on Facebook page for a certain cause is nice but it’s not really making a difference for that cause. It’s simply showing that you support that cause. This is a reason why teens, even though it’s easy to get involved, won’t do so. They want to be literally more active, which means getting out of their chairs and going out and making a real difference.
In their article, “Activists”, John Palfrey and Urs Gasser argue that digital and socialmedia are making it easier for today’s...

According to Starbucks (Starbucksi, 2010) Starbucks first came into existence in 1971 in Siegel, historic Pike Place market when it was owned by Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegel, and Gordon Bowker. The Starbucks coffee chain is now successfully serving over five hundred stores in the UK with approximately 34million customers every year. Starbucks used these social communities beautifully to build up a customer base by implementing ideas given by users. They successfully derived the feedback from people and utilized them to implement new strategies.
