School Management System
This system gives a way to compete because it has student data, finance and human resource information, annual budget, employee pay, and food service from a centralized database (Why Choose Skyward, 2013). Listed are some of the items found in the student management suite: complete student management solution, integrated grade book, and an emergency notification system. State Reports
These reports are included in the package bundle at no extra cost to the state. Some of the Texas state reports that are included in the program include Public Education Information Management Systems (PEIMS) data, Pupil Enrollment Tracking, TAKS Assessments, TELPAS Pre-coding, Texas Honor Roll, Staff Salary Data, and the Federal CDC Report. This is important data that has to be reported to the state throughout the school year. Customer Driven
Skyward is a system in which the customers’ request updates and changes to the system. A voting system is in place to vote on the request for enhancements to Skyward. A web-based management system is used to communicate and process the reports of every request submitted. This feature allows districts to customize features and if a district pays for the new feature, the other districts receive the customized feature for free. Single Database
One of the main features of Skyward is that there is only one login to view all information. All stakeholders such as parents, students, administrators, and teachers have one login to access the files they are granted permission. Also, there is simplified state reporting, where all district’s state reporting comes from an inclusive database, that eliminated redundant data entry. Another feature is that the data is web-based so you can access the data from anywhere you have an Internet connection even with a smartphone. This system also has reduced costs associated with it because the district does not have to maintain separate databases for student and employee data....
...Types of management information systems
Management information systems are essential for the modern day organizations to make decisions based on facts that are analysed in an intelligent way, thus using information technology to have a competitive edge.
There are different types of management information systems at different levels of an organization :
Transaction processingsystem (TPS) - for operational level of the organization e.g. cash counters, ATMs, EFTPOS, Scanners etc.
Management information system (MIS) - for middle level managers.
Decision support systems (DSS) - for middle level managers with added analytical function e.g. model-driven ( voyage estimation, data-driven (customer buying behaviour-Tesco card)
Executive support system (ESS) - for top level management to aid decision making with input from the TPS, MIS & financial data.
There are also other information systems that span the enterprise & are known as Enterprise applications/systems. These are of 4 types :
Enterprise systems (E.S.)
Supply chain managementsystem (S.C.M.S.)
Customer relationship managementsystem (C.R.M.S.)
Knowledge managementsystem (K.M.S.)

Management Information System (MIS)
In my words, Management Information System is a digital, or computer based tool, which provides managers of all levels, as well as regular employees, with information crucial to perform their tasks more effectively.
Management Information Systems are used especially by managers and they help them with different areas of their work:
gathering needed information
evaluation of processes
Management Information Systems combine information from various dimensions or branches of the company or organization, such as:
Some synonyms for MIS are as follows:
Management Information Services
Some examples of Management Information Systems:
CFM (Car Fleet Management)
CRM (Customer Relationship Management)
ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)
Examples of MIS
car fleet management (cfm) and customer relationship management (crm)
CFM: System that helps to control how cars are used in a company. Driving performance, fuel usage but also sales performance and efficiency.
USOS Web: Internet platform, used to help students to enrol courses and contact professors, without coming to the...

The Problem: It’s Background
A Content ManagementSystem (CMS) is a computer program that allows publishing, editing and modifying content as well as maintenance from a central interface. One of the examples of Content ManagementSystem (CMS) is “blogging”.
Blogging is the act of posting content on a blog or posting comments on someone else's blog. Blogging is very popular today because it allows people to interact with each other. Blogging has also become a popular Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tool because search engines like Google and Yahoo know that a blog is frequently updated with content or visitor comments, so their spiders visit blogs frequently looking for new content to include in their index.
Additionally, blog content can be delivered automatically via electronic RSS (Really Simple Syndication) data feeds. Visitors subscribe to a blog's feeds in order to stay up to date with content that's being posted on subjects that interest them. Blog feeds are then read by what's known as blog feed reader software, widely available for free, so users can scan for recent blog posts of interest on the blogs to which they subscribe.
The purpose of this project proposal was to develop and implement a CMS. This CMS will help us to inform easily the daily activities of one person, the incoming events, news and some related topics. CMS will provide two users: The administrator and the...
...DBM405 (Database ManagementSystem)
Facilitator Anup Majumder-University of Phoenix Online
The research that I have done for this individual assignment where I need to provide a brief explanation of OLAP, Data Warehouse and Data Mart, Three-tier architecture and ASP was through a research online. I found that most of these acronyms for computer terminology are hard to find when the meanings that apply to your subject or acronym you are un-aware of it. In conclusion all the above words are related one to each other.
Let me start this paper providing a shot briefing about how hard was for me finding most of the explanation of these four terminologies that I will be explaining below.
OLAP is the first word that I will define in my paper. OLAP is an acronym for On-Line Analytical Processing. It is an approach to quickly providing the answer to complex database queries. Is used in today business for reporting sales, marketing, management reporting, data mining and similar areas.
The main reason of using OLAP to answer queries is speed. Relational databases store entities in discrete tables if they have been properly normalized. This structure is good for operational databases but for complex multi-table queries is comparatively slow. A better model for querying but worse for operational use is the dimensional database.
OLAP take a snapshot of a relational database and restructures it into dimensional...

Securing and Protecting Information
describes the security authentication process.
The use of information systems is a must for businesses of today. The main purpose is to carry out the daily tasks proficiently. In the work place it is crucial to have PC’s like laptops, desktops, and even I pads that are all networked together even include the printers that are also used on the same network. The two most treasured assets for any business are their employees and their networked information systems the main focus for my paper here is authentication process.
Employees and their misuse of information systems pose huge challenges to companies for instance, loss of revenue, legal problems, loss of productivity, and all other problems that happen in the workplace. There needs to be countermeasures that would enforce the usage policies which in-turn minimizes losses and increases productivity. Securing and Protecting Information the issues related to Information System misuse, resulting threats and countermeasures. Learning from past mistakes, where Sony Security failed.
“There is an urgent need of an authentication procedure able to support end-users in correctly identify their service web site. This procedure must be standard, simple enough to be usable and understandable by non-technically savvy end-users and easily deployable.” (A Server...
...Research by O’Brien, J (1999) supports that a combination of hardware and software that used to process information automatically is called Management Information System (MIS). Management Information System is the term given to the discipline focused on the integration of computer systems with the aims and objectives on an organisation. Management information systems may provide the information needed to manage organizations with efficiently and effectively. Management Information System may classify to three primary resources which are technology, information, and people. Management Information System is regarded as a subset of the overall internal controls procedures in a business, which cover the application of people, documents, technologies, and procedures used by management accountants to solve business problem such as costing a product, service or a business-wide strategy. Normally, MIS is used to allow individual to access and modify information.
It has been said that the purpose of information systems is to get the right information to the right people at the right time in the right amount and in the right format. Because information systems are intended to supply useful information, the information may defined into data, information and knowledge. Refer to Leo Lingham...
