EXPLAIN THE PURPOSE AND BENEFITS OF PEST ANALYSIS.
PEST analysis is used to evaluate the political, economic, social and technological influences that organizations might face when they are about to start a project. It provides external factors that organizations should take into consideration before they start the projects. In this case study, the UNISION used PEST analysis to investigate the external environment surrounding migrant workers; it helps UNISON to identify and understand the reasons why migrants come to the UK and the issues they face. PEST analysis possesses several advantages; first of all, it is relatively simple and only costs time to do, the only thing that managers should do is to brainstorm from four different aspects and summarize their perspectives. Secondly, PEST analysis helps managers to understand their business better. Since managers have to do lots of detailed research from four different aspects, they might find some problems of their business, which they never noticed or considered before. Last but not the least, PEST analysis helps companies to avoid the future threats and difficulties. Owing to PEST analysis involves the external threats of organizations, although some of them are unpredictable and inevitable, it will still be possible for companies to take precautions and minimized the loss that might be brought by the threats.
2. OUTLINE THE FACTORS THAT COULD LEAD TO EXPLOITATION OF MIGRANT WORKERS.
First of all, the employers were ignoring employment law. Some companies were paying the migrant workers less than the minimum wage while others forced workers to worker longer than the working time directive. Secondly, migrant workers have language barrier. The majority of the workers have the difficulty in communicating in English; so, they are always reluctant to complain about their treatment by employers while they might not understand the content of their employment contracts and companies' rules very well. Some...

Selling goods in the global marketing is extremely challenging. Discuss the major political, economic, socio-cultural, technological, legal and ecological challenges that a global marketing manager may have to contend with?
The following analysis known as the PESTEL analysis is a framework used to scan the organization’s external macro environment which refers to forces that are part of the larger society and affect the micro environment. Selling and marketing goods in the global market intensifies these issues and creates a larger challenge for marketing managers. The macro environment is where organisations do not have any control.
Political factors refer to the stability of the political environment and the attitudes of political parties or movements. How and to what degree a government intervenes in the economy. Specifically, political factors include areas such as tax policy, labour law, environmental law, trade restrictions, tariffs, and political stability. From the list it is clear that political factors often have an impact on organisations and how they do business. Organisations need to be able to respond to the...
...Siemens AG PESTLE Analysis
Siemens AG will be subject to legislation in any country within which they are operating. With the head office in Germany they are subject to German and European corporate law. In the U.K Siemens must obey English legislation specific to that market. For example The Trades Descriptions Act, which states that a company may not falsely advertise any of its products or services.
Also effecting the company's operations in Britain are the Sale of Goods Act and the Consumer Protection Acts that enable the consumer to have certain rights if they are supplied with faulty or damaged goods.
As a multinational company Siemens will be subject to the fiscal policies employed by governments within a number of countries, furthermore when products are being sold internationally there will also be import and export controls that will affect the company such as tariffs that must be paid.
Siemens AG is particularly exposed to fluctuations in the exchange rate between the US
Dollar and the euro, because a high percentage of the company's business volume is
conducted in the US and has exports from Europe. (SWOT data monitor).
The current conflict in Iraq has caused uncertainty in many world markets. The unstable that has come about as a direct result of this can have an effect on Siemens as they have a wide ranging portfolio that spreads across a number of different markets.
The ongoing Economic downturn has...

...Thus, in areas where there is a high competition, a low risk or a high growth potential (that is most of Europe and the whole of America) the company adopts a position of growth through subsidiaries. In highly competitive unfamiliar markets it does so through joint ventures that soften the learning effect (such as Japan and Germany). PESTLE describes six factors that apply to all businesses, although some factors will impact one particular business to a greater or lesser extent or in a more direct or indirect manner than others. Awareness and analysis of the PESTLE factors allow companies to align themselves to these external aspects and in many cases, soften the impact that they have on business.
