...Assignment 1 (26-11-12)
Within the subject Learning and communicating online, my ideas and concepts about the media have developed in a way which allows me to see the influences it can create on the public. Before I started the subject I was heavily influenced by the way the media would express particular tones, texts and images to help evoke the exact emotions they wanted from their audience. This is a great influential tool which gives meaning and understanding without being bilaterally obvious.
At first I never knew the depth in which the media used all types of techniques to promote a message to the audience. I also did not realize there were numerous types of mass communications. “Mass media is communication—whether written, broadcast, or spoken—that reaches a large audience. This includes television, radio, advertising, movies, the Internet, newspapers, magazines, and so forth.”(The Role and influence of Mass Media, 2008, Cliff Notes). This is the best resource to reach the audience in every possible situation. Mass Media is the most accessible and at times sub conscious. Even while driving to work we turn on the radio and presented with numerous media influences. In modern culture, mass media has an increasing effect on our lives.
Now day’s television is the most popular use of mass media, but if we take a look back in the 1960 and 1970 era it was much more difficult to target an audience. Only very few fortunate families had...

1. Using the textbook as a guide, please define the following concepts in one sentence:
a. Learning and Innovation Skills:...
In the age of technology, many approaches have been changed. Learning process has been shifted from the traditional way to a new perspective of learning that uses the internet technology. This type of learning helps students to choose their courses without pressure of time and location. E-learning gives students the freedom of choosing the time that they want to spend on studying. So it might be more flexible for students because they can perform and study from anywhere even they can wear anything they want. According to CCA consulting, nearly fifty percent of higher education institutions currently involved with onlinelearning. This percentage indicates that onlinelearning should be considered as a serious alternative for traditional learning.
Onlinelearning can be defined as the process of studying by taking courses that are credited or non credited from any part of the world with no limitations of time and location. This type of learning is performed through the internet technology (John.Reid, Onlinelearning). According to DR.Bob Roper, and educational researcher, about six hundreds courses are delivered to the students all around the world by thirty five academic institutions which demonstrate the success and effectiveness...
...Onlinelearning is an effective educational tool in developing countries.
During the technology development and information explosion of the 21th centuries, a tremendous transformation has infiltrated the dissemination of knowledge. A vigorous process that may boost the revolution for education in the developed countries is onlinelearning that learners can successfully obtain universal access to knowledge through electronic devices without the limitation of space and time. However the new teaching method has spurred debate of whether onlinelearning is also applicable to developing countries. Although the merits about onlinelearning have become legion due to its benefits for both institutions and learners, relatively some attention has been paid to its tremendously negative consequences in developing countries such as a detrimental influence on society equality and native culture. Therefore, this essay will argue that onlinelearning is not an effective educational tool in developing countries because it exacerbates the problem of inequality and generates inappropriate culture.
It is well known that onlinelearning as the substitute for traditional teaching has several contributing factors. One of these is that it contributes to institutions. Not so much in making large savings in the construction...

OnlineLearning vs On campus Learning
The number of students taking online classes has jumped nearly 96% in the past five years (Sanburn, 2012). Many students are transitioning to a more technology based learning mechanism, than hands on in the classroom. Some students even prefer the hands on learning in the classroom, but it all has to do with a students learning preference. There are many benefits and downfalls to both online classes and learning in the classroom.
On campus classes are preferred by the students who like to take a more hands on approach to learning. On campus classes come with many benefits. Students have direct encounter with other students, and they have the possibility to make and grow friendships. Every time I start a class I have no friends and by the end I feel like I have made a few. Even people in my class that are really shy make at least a friend by the end. Making friends in the classroom helps us form study groups, or a nice school support system. On campus classes also offer teachers on hand to help through any problems or questions. If you do not understand material, you can most often go directly to a teacher’s office to ask questions and resolve your confusion. This helps a student submit work with confidence, and on time. Most on ground campuses also offer access to a school...
...Onlinelearning verses Traditional learning
Coming up with the most suitable way to have classes is one thing that is blocked by many problems. As it has always been the case, many people prefer having their classes in the traditional way to taking online classes. However, online classes seem to overweigh traditional classes in many ways such as; time management, availability of resources and also the fact that one can take an online class easily while doing a job at the same time.
The option of taking on line classes has benefited many people since it has spared them the agony of working on tight schedules. In addition to this, people get more time to spend with their families and friends unlike in traditional classes where a student will stay in class all day long. This option also gives them an opportunity to look for money and hence improve their living standards while scaling the height of their academic status at the same time. This is because they can manage time on their own and decide which area to allocate more time depending on their current situation and activities.
At times, you will find students taking online classes very busy with their laptops or palmtops even when travelling. They have the freedom to fix their classes depending on the events of the day. Some may decide to take their classes during breaks such as lunch and the like. Others may decide to...
