Parasailing for the very first time was extremely fun and exciting. We first made our way to the parasailing office located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where we awaited instruction. We were then led out to a boat. Where I took my turn going up. After coming down I preceded to watch all my family have their turns. It was for sure my favorite adventure we took while on vacation. First, we went to the office to sign all the waivers, which made me really nervous for my life. Since we had a long wait, we sat down with the other people who were in our group. I met an elderly man and his wife; they were very polite and friendly. It was their first time parasailing also. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, it was time for us to board the boat. We had to walk across the street and down a long walkway to get to the dock. As we were boarding the boat I almost slipped and fell into the water. After we were all on the boat we had to go through a beautiful inlet that lead out into the ocean. We were then instructed on how put our life jackets and harnesses on. The instructor decided that I was going to be the first one to go up in the air. I made my way to the front of the boat and sat down on the deck so he could hook the parachute to my harness. Without a warning he let the parachute go and then I was ascending up into the air almost felt like the speed of light! As I was going up, he shook the line to scare me. Finally when I reached 500 feet, I could see the shore line. It was a breath taking view. I could see giant sea turtles and I even saw a shark. I was in the air about 30 minutes. Then I started descending down. When I was close to the boat, he dunked me into the same water where I had just moments earlier seen the shark and the sea turtles. After my turn was over I got to relax and enjoy watching everyone else’s terror turning into enjoyment. My sister was the next one rigged up. I could tell...
...minutes. The longer I sat in his closet, the more I started to feel like a sloth. Eventually, I mindlessly laid against the wall scrolling through social networking sites on my phone and a quick glance at the time abruptly jolted me out of my stupor. I had been waiting for nearly two hours. The excited aura that the closet once emitted had evaporated, as I became more anxious for my brother walk into his room. I excited myself with words of encouragement and the look on his face when I would have successfully scared him. The smile on my face changed faster than a cheetah running after his meal, as I shifted my body into a more comfortable position a piece of Lego had pressed into my hand.
“Argh!” I muffled into my sleeve.
Just as I was about to give up, my brother walked in. He flicked on the light, which thankfully didn’t reveal the shadows I was hiding in, and climbed into his bed. I noted that he hadn’t even brushed his teeth but I was more focused on preparing myself for the scare then to dwell on his hygiene. The light turned off and Tejpal rolled around in his bed looking for the sweet spot. While his breathing got deeper and slower, I began to move out of my sitting position. Slowly shifting out of the corner, my fingers sunk into the soft carpet as I pulled myself into the view of the foot of his bed. It was tucked into the left corner of his room with a window above that allowed an eerie moonlight to illuminate the furniture. My cloak swished...

There is “True Grit” in Everyone
True Grit shows as a different trait in everyone; everybody shows it in a different way. The hero of the story does not always have what it takes or show the qualities that are needed to have this so called “true grit”. Each and every character in the novel, True Grit, has some kind of grit about them, as one can see though the actions of the characters and the way that they deal with adversity.
The story starts out with one young, not so pretty little girl who is trying to make things right after the death of her father. Young Mattie Ross is a new ear girl in her time. She has a knack of using her voice to get what she wanted from men which is very uncommon in the time period in which this book was written. Most women during this era, did not carry guns, talk so boldly to men, or straddle horses. Mattie Ross is one of a hand full of women that stood out in the crowd and she did things that were uncommon to women in her day (Women of the old west had true grit). Even though Mattie Ross showed a lot of courage, I can only imagine the fear that she must have felt as she pushed on. She looked diligently to find the man that did her father wrong and she was not giving up until she found that horrible man. One example of this is when she crosses the great river after she learns that Rooster and LaBoeuf have gone after her father’s killer without her. Another example is...
... “Can you imagine? I mean to say, here you have a city with the world’s most pathologically aggressive drivers -- who in other circumstances would be given injections of valium from syringes the size of basketball jumps and confined to their beds with leather straps -- and you give them an open space where they can all go in any of thirteen directions at once. Is that asking for trouble or what?”
Interspersed are salient comments about traveling on European trains. “There is no scope for privacy and of course there is nothing like being trapped in a train compartment on a long journey to bring all those unassuageable little frailties of the human body crowding to the front of your mind – the withheld fart, the three and a half square yards of boxer shorts that have somehow become concertinaed between your buttocks, the Kellogg’s corn flake that is unaccountably lodged deep in your left nostril,”. . .and rude comments about the Swiss: “What do you call a gathering of boring people in Switzerland? Zurich.”
He reveals some funny stories about himself. “I had no gift for woodworking. Everyone else in the class was building things like cedar chests and oceangoing boats and getting to play with dangerous and noisy power tools, but I had to sit at the Basics Table with Tubby Tucker and a kid who was so stupid that I don't think we ever learned his name. We just called him 'Drooler.' The three of us weren't allowed anything more...
Narrative essay (final draft)
My Favorite Childhood Memory
In modern life, people do not believe in miracles anymore because life is not a
fairy tale, and there is not a fairy godmother who magically appear when they need
help. However,my childhood story can prove an opposite thing. It was the most
memorable time that I cannot forget at the end of my life. A fantastic thing happened
when I was a little girl, and this is a story about me and my puppy.
On the occasion of my seventh birthday,my father gave me a puppy. It was my
precious gift I have ever had because he was my best friend during my childhood time.
I named him Dolly and after one week,we seemed to be closed friends. He ran to me
everytime, listened to me and wrapped his ears excitedly. I also taught him to do some
tricks,so he could jump up,sit down or lie on the ground when I ordered him.He was a
smart and very nice dog.Once I argued and was hit by my older brother,he bravely
rushed into danger to protect me.I was really appreciate my Dolly. Indeed,I loved him
and we were best friends,so I always shared my feelings with him, talked to him, even
though he just quietly listened and licked up my hand gently. Although he was silent,I
knew he could understand me very well.
Day by day,Dolly and I enjoyed happiness together, but a terrible nightmare came
and took away my best friend. While I was studying in my room,he was playing...
...entertained; she also said repeatedly, "The party will get better after dark when some people leave." The party started getting interesting, to me, when the piñata came out and the little kids were not allowed to swing. After the piñata some of the older people started leaving and two other annoying teenagers, around our age, who kept on ruining the fun also left; so after they all left the real party started. Inside of a shed in the back yard there were flashing lights that made everything seemed slow motion and we cranked the music up loud enough to hold a concert and since the house was out in the country no one complained about anything and the police never came for D.T.P, Disturbing the Peace. Everyone danced until knees started collapsing on the floor, drunken people passed out on anything available and until the D.J was to drunk to play; the party wasn't over until about 5:00 in the morning; menudo was served the next morning....
...When God created man, he also created other living creatures and every living creature has their own right to be on this planet. However, we humans being the superior in power and thoughts, somehow forget these things most of the time. Some people think that animals do deserve the rights as we humans to live; while other thinks that they are more for food and medical research.
Animals, like any other living creature also have the same feelings and experience the same depth of love and pain like we humans. If you careful notice, all pets, irrespective of being a bird or an animal, when loved deeply, they return their love in many folds.
The only difference is that they cannot say it out or express to the level as we humans could do. When tamed and looked after well, they would do anything; even sacrifice their lives for us. Such pure and true is their love for their masters, that many a times, humans do not realize.
Most of the time, on seeing an animal, people are the thought of either harming them fearing the danger, or think of killing them. What does one gain when they do this kind of act? They are just being taken for granted and various acts are performed that in fact tortures the animals both physically and mentally.
There were times when horses pulled carriages, dogs herding sheep, and many other animals that have helped in building homes and shelters and supporting families. However with the advancing of time, things have changed.
In the name of...
...there are times that I’m having a hard time on expressing myself, my thought with others because I don’t exactly know how am I going to say it in a way that the listener could easily understand it and get my point. I didn’t know how come I was able to adopt the lifestyle in corporate world. People that I worked with are really amazing! They’re so professional. While in the working area I was able to show my respect from high positioned personnel until the lowest one like the working students and utilities .I’m very careful about creating a good impression with others knowing that I’m not just using my name but also the name of my department.
3. The most memorable event during my practicum.
It is when Sir Donato give an assignment to me and I finished it on time and got a compliment from him it is the most memorable. And there is one more that I am really proud of!!! I could say that now I became more punctual. I am no longer having a problem about time management. Now it’s easier for me to determine the task that needs prioritization. If I’m going to look back on what I am before I could say that now I am someone that is more competent. I’m more open minded .I accept critic’s opinions and consider it as a positive way of giving myself a motivation to become better.
4. What I can recommend for the improvement of the practicum program....
...the most exciting and disappointing moments that I have ever had was the night I went to a Celtics Basketball game in Albany New York during the pre-season. I was so excited to go and couldn’t wait be in the arena with the screaming fans and some great basketball.
I had recently been paying special attention to a specific player who just came back to the Celtics from heart surgery and was by far my favorite on the team. I was very excited to watch him come back. He had excellent talent with large long arms and could jump through the roof. Jeff Green was a crucial piece to the Celtics team and they were very eager to have him back on the floor.
As a family, we had eaten dinner and gotten in the car to head all the way to Albany which is about 150 miles away but I had made sure I brought a sharpie and my Jeff Green card with me. I began to become more frantic as my father had to tell me to settle down multiple times as we began to get closer and closer to the arena.
When the big round and sparkling arena came into sight I was going berserk for I had not yet seen my favorite player play a game live with the Celtics. Everything was going great and exactly to plan until we entered the building and the game had already started. We were a half hour late and the game was already in the second quarter. I was so confused because I was sure that the schedule had said the game was at eight thirty not eight.
Once we got up to our seats in the upper deck row four...
