It was summer 08’, 105 degrees, and the place was Ft. Benning,Ga. It felt just like basic training due to the hours and hours of intensive waiting with full gear on. Frustration was at its maximum. I was about to become another member of the selected community of paratroopers in the US army.
The rough sound of the airplane engines approaching, the harness shed announced the meeting with my destiny. There I was minutes away from my first jump in airborne school. The jumpmasters call for shock number 7 to rise and get ready. As I stood up I noticed my uniform was soaking wet, but it did not matter at that point. I had many more things in my mind than trying to keep a clean appearance. Walking down the runway and feeling the wind of the angry engines hitting my face made me realize that this time was for real. This was creating all kinds of crazy thoughts in my mind, from how to practice a perfect PLF (parachute landing fall) to parachute malfunctions. Once inside the airplane, we sat on these tiny seats where my body was totally against the person next to me. As soon as the aircraft took off it felt that there was no oxygen. Then as if there was a miracle from God, the air vents opened up to let a cool nice breeze out.
According to the pilot winds were high, that would make the jump to be postpone for a while, so it did. My level of nervousness increased as they gave the 10 minute warning, followed by the instructional commands. I hooked up my static line to the main cable of the aircraft. At that specific point something happened that I never had experienced in my life. I could not control my body shaking just like a newborn chicken. I tried all the techniques learned during my 3 week training, but my involuntary movements would not stop. The air was tense, and also the faces of my fellow jumpers. I could not believe that I was doing something that I once said I would never do. With one hand on my reserve parachute and...
...educational value for all persons and especially for the children. Here children can get familiar with different kinds of living creatures who live in different parts of the world. A visit to the zoo is highly informative and it increases the knowledge of the students.
Those who are living in the cities do not know about the life of animals and beasts that live in the forest. Thus by going to the zoological park they can see birds and beasts of different colours and varieties, which live far away from our civilization in the jungles.
There is a good zoological park in Pakistan especially in its big cities like Lahore, Karachi. In Lahore the zoo is situated near Wapda House on the Mall. Last Sunday I visited the Lahore zoo in the company of my friends from our school. We started from our homes at 10:00 a.m. and took the van No. 25. At the zoo there was a great rush of visitors who had also come to visit the zoo and were all in a holiday mood. One of our friends stood in the long queue to purchase the entry tickets after which we entered the zoo.
In the zoo there are beautiful parks and pools. First of all we saw the water birds like the ducks swans and cranes which were playing in the water. All of us were thrilled to see the beautiful water birds. The names of the birds were written also on wooden boards which were fixed in the ground.
Then we saw the birds that were twittering and hopping their cages. There were beautiful birds like pigeon’s parrots and...
...Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings.
actually, i wanted to become a doc. since i was 4 years old.my grandfather was a landlord. i always used to ask him `when i become a doc. will u give me some of your land to construct my clinic?` he used to smile and say`why not dear.` then i would say `grandpa then i will certainly treat you after i become a doc. and i will not charge you a single penny` and he used to enjoy this childish talk with me.however i and my grandpa were soon parted due to my dad`s job . we moved away from the village till 3 years . we returned only after grandpa`s death. now i am in 9th. and sad to say now i have become a brutally ambitious person. i have had many sad things happen in my life(enough to distract me of my studies)i think peer pressure was the most worst thing that influenced me.but i am trying to do my best now and i am sure i will achieve my goal. :-)
Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.
We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community... Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.
Great ambition is the passion of a great...

People always ask me why skydiving? Maybe it’s the adrenalin of going one hundred plus miles per hour, or maybe it’s the fact that I’m doing something not many other people do. I’m not quite sure. But skydiving isn’t as easy as it looks there are different steps one has to take to be able to jump out of a plane and do it safely. You have to find a school, get ground training, and then you can jump.
Finding a school you like won’t be as easy as you think. Don’t settle for the first or cheapest school you come across, you should investigate the school thoroughly. Ask questions like what they teach and how they teach it, or what type of equipment do they use? What are their safety precautions? Go to the U.S Parachute Association website and find all the answers before you ask the questions. Find out if the school is certified and if their instructors are. Then when you find a school you will have to fill out some legal papers. Then you can start your ground training.
When it comes to the ground training there is no way around it before you can begin jumping you have to complete the required ground training. Basically, you’re learning how to use the equipment and how to use it safely. Most of the time training can be completed in one day depending on what kind of a jump you’re doing. After you complete the training you are ready to jump with your instructor.
Next comes the hardest part jumping...

In this paper, the group proposes an analytical representation for the occurrence of hydraulic jump flow. The experiment showed that hydraulic jumps happen when a high velocity liquid enters a zone of lower velocity. The approach used by the group is controlled volume method, as it is the most commonly used approach in analyzing hydraulic jumps. Using the Reynolds Transport Theorem and with the aid of some very helpful assumptions, the group found a relationship between the characteristics of the jump upstream and jump downstream, as well as the entrainment. Unfortunately, the figures that were observed experimentally were not close enough to theoretical values. But the group has seen the accuracy and performance of the experiment apparatuses – scales, sluice gate – will affect mainly the data that will be observed.
Hydraulic Jump occurs when an open channel flows at a high velocity and low depth then changes instantly to a high depth with low velocity.
In this experiment, letting water flow from a tank and then through a small opening of a gate, we create a rapid low-depth flow. By controlling a certain apparatus on the far side, a hydraulic jump is created. The hydraulic jump should be stabilized at one point so that a productive investigation is achieved

Hydraulic jump is the natural phenomenon that always occurs at the open channel flow like river and spillway. This phenomenon occurred when a high velocity liquid discharge into a zone with a lower velocity of water that doesn’t have a slope steep enough to maintain the supercritical flow(high velocity liquid). The results, an abrupt rise occurred in the liquid surface. The rapidly flowing liquid will abruptly slowed and increase in height. This will converting the flow’s kinetic energy into potential energy, with some energy are permanently lost through confusion to heat. In an open channel flow, this demonstrated as the fast flow rapidly slowing and piling up on top of itself similar to how shockwave occurred. The smooth transition is possible in open channel flow from subcritical to supercritical flow, but it’s not possible the other way around.
