As such, MIS is defined as the study of information systems focusing on their use in business and management (Laudon and Laudon, 2010:48).

This paper will seek to look at the following pertaining to a Metropolitan Hospital in terms of its Management information systems or lack thereof:   Highlighting the challenges faced by the Metropolitan Hospital that is also common to many Southern African business enterprises.
