Homeland security does not need to imprison neither to beat illegal immigrants in order to not allow them into the country. Points like restricting immigration tightly so we will have less terrorist attacks, better control on monitoring the abuse and discrimination cause to illegal immigrants, and showing the world that America has always a room for hope to a better life are some of the steps that will reinforce our immigration and strength our security at the same time.
Statistics show that most of the terrorist attacks are done by immigrants regardless their immigration status. According to Krikorian the fact that America seems always naked in the face of the enemy thanks to its lack of restrict rules has made us the target to forty eight al-Qaida operatives since 1993. A third of this terrorists were here on various temporary visas, another third were legal residents or naturalized citizens. A fourth was illegal aliens, and the rest had pending asylum applications. Nearly half of the total had, at some point or another, violated immigration laws. As suspected the primary weapons of our enemies are nothing more than our enemies themselves, especially in the case of suicide attackers.
Danticat talks how after September 11, 2001 the department of homeland security pointed its efforts to stop any future attacks to illegal aliens in the country.
