As individuals we all find ourselves in difficult situations where we disagree with something or someone, be it a complete stranger, a friend or ourselves. In these situations we are required to make a decision as to which path we will follow, we can either argue over the disagreement, take it further and hope for a resolution or we can step back from it and move on from the situation, although we would all perhaps agree that stepping back from the disagreement would be the most ideal thing to do, it is sometimes impossible to turn our backs and ignore the situation. These situations are us encountering conflict, whether we accidently stumble across it or if we go looking for it, in some situations conflict is simply unavoidable. A lack of communication and understanding, the presence of fear and our desire for certain possessions as individuals are some of the reasons why we pursue a disagreement that often leads to a deeper conflict with ourselves, another individual or a larger group. When there is limited and unsuccessful communication between two parties or two individuals there is no understanding. If we cannot understand or communicate efficiently with another group or individual then there is going to be confusion and misinterpretations, neither group or individual is going to know what the other is saying, thinking, or feeling which can easily lead to frustration. Each of us know that when our emotions are heightened, particularly frustration and anger we are more susceptible to arguing, an example of this is the lack of communication and understanding between the white settlers and the indigenous people in Kate Grenville’s book, The Secret River. The two cultures in the book obviously have very different lifestyles, they obtain different beliefs, attitudes and most importantly different languages, when the two cultures confront each other throughout the book they have no idea what the other is saying and therefore it is difficult to understand what the...
A conflict is a disagreement between individuals or groups which when remain unresolved, may need the intervention of a mediator to prevent escalation of the dispute. Conflict transformation on the other hand is when an individual mindset, attitude, skills and capabilities changes so they can deal with conflict resolution issues. Indispensable in the process is the modeling of spiritual lessons as taught in the Bible.
In our everyday lives we face some kind of conflict this is because we are surrounded by different individuals with different personalities and believe when different individuals come together these personalities clash. ...King Philip's War: The UnavoidableConflict
War between the Indians and the Colonists was unavoidable from the very moment the Pilgrims first set foot on what was to eventually become Massachusetts in 1620. As more and more settlers began arriving over the years, tension between the two began to steadily rise. The settler's insatiable hunger for land and their increasing mistreatment of the Indians began to break down an already somewhat fragile alliance between the two. The Indians were quickly losing land and their way of life as well to these new settlers and some of them believed the only way to stop this was to go on the offensive and push back them back. The result of this was a short fought war known as King Philip's War. Though it only lasted a little over a year, it was an exceptionally brutal war that took a huge toll life wise and had a lasting impact on both the English and the Indians for many years to come.
After landing in what is now known as Plymouth, some of the first Indians that the Pilgrims encountered were the Wampanoag's. They were led by their chief Massasoit and eventually the Indians and Pilgrims formed an alliance. As a result of this alliance, both parties promised not to attack or harm one or another, and if something did happen, then the offender would be turned over to the ones harmed. Also, they would give assistance to each other if they should find themselves under attack (Rich 1-8).
For this project, I will be writing about the various ways in resolving personality conflicts in an organization. There are conflicts which deal with personalities, discrimination and leadership. These are common situations to any organization. At my company, a conflict arises due to the mere fact that one believes the research of a Teflon product made by Boston Science Guys Corporation is stronger than the other Teflon product made by Johnson & Joe, Inc. Here are two heated employees in a debate that one knows more about a Teflon manufactured product than the other. This situation will need to have a neutral person involved to view the differences regarding the disagreement which creates a conflict of interest of the organization. That is where I step in when a situation arises. In order for me to facilitate all individuals involved, the cooperation from all will be needed. During this process, a meeting will be schedule and conducted to have both employees describe the escalated debate of something that could have been handled in a better way by both employees. If there is any sense of unwillingness, an appointed manager or supervisor of that particular department will be the person to defuse the situation in order to resolve the conflict. My input will be valued in order to move forward with an objective of what the goals of this organization needs in resolving any...

“Mankind must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love,” Martin Luther King Jr. Organizational conflict can be a frequent battle on a normal premise among employers and employees. Conflict undertakes numerous systems. Miscommunication inside an association between parties can result in hierarchical conflict, or otherwise known as organizational conflict. Customarily, people that have been promoted to a higher position can often feel as if their title provides them extra authoritative power as to how they treat and address others. At times, employees can feel envious of other employees on account of their development with the organization or the recognition of their achievements. Many may contend that conflict is a natural quality in everybody and at any given time, an individual can make a clash among people inside any given organization. This type of negative conflict is the “conventional perspective” of conflict.
Organizational conflict can fall under three categories: The good, the bad, and unfortunately, the ugly. But I am only going to further my research in the dysfunctional and functional perspective of organizational...
...Conflict Resolution Skills
Managing and Resolving Conflict in a Positive Way
Conflict is a normal, and even healthy, part of relationships. After all, two people can’t be
expected to agree on everything at all times. Since relationship conflicts are inevitable, learning
to deal with them in a healthy way is crucial. When conflict is mismanaged, it can harm the
relationship. But when handled in a respectful and positive way, conflict provides an
opportunity for growth, ultimately strengthening the bond between two people. By learning the
skills you need for successful conflict resolution, you can keep your personal and professional
relationships strong and growing.
The fundamentals of conflict resolution
Conflict arises from differences. It occurs whenever people disagree over their values,
motivations, perceptions, ideas, or desires. Sometimes these differences look trivial, but when a
conflict triggers strong feelings, a deep personal and relational need is at the core of the
problem—a need to feel safe and secure, a need to feel respected and valued, or a need for
greater closeness and intimacy.
Recognizing and resolving conflicting needs
If you are out of touch with your feelings or so stressed that you can only pay attention to a ...
The conflict between the Israel and Palestine goes back to the late 19th century and early 20th century. This is mainly because of the existence of two major groups mainly the Jewish and the Arab community. Each of these two communities wants to attain sovereignty for their people in the Middle East. Since then the conflict has been going on year after year as many innocent lives are lost.
Why would the U.S support Israel in the Palestinian and Israeli conflict?
The United States for many years have been in support of the Israel in terms of military support and financial aid. The U.S has for many years denied this as it acts as the peace maker or mediator but in real sense it in support of the Jewish community. Since early days, the U.N Security Council has resisted the involvement of the U.S but due to the U.S processing VETO powers they never cease from being involved in these daily conflicts. (Devon Douglas-Bowers, “The U.S. role in the Israel-Palestine conflict”, Foreign Policy Journal, 2013 pg 1.
The united states have made the issue so delicate in a way that the media mislead the U.S citizens about the situation in these two conflicting nations. Many of the U.S citizens are Jews and in that case Christians, this has led in them being forced to support the oppression of the Palestine, as they term it being anti-Arab or anti-Muslim. (Devon Douglas-Bowers, “The...
...Encountering Conflict – Essay 2 – Daniel Furnell
Prompt: “In conflict, it is women who suffer most”
Interpretation of prompt: Generally throughout the majority of conflicts especially physical conflict, it is the men who are at the forefront fighting the battle. However it is the mother, the wives, the daughters and the sisters of these men who are the ones who suffer most.
* Picassos painting “the weeping woman” depicts a grief stricken lady, experiencing the true devastation of losing a beloved male to the horror of the Spanish civil War.
* In the quiet American, it is Phuong who suffers throughout the text, being torn between both men when having to decide who she wants to be with as a result of the conflict between the two men.
History has proven to the world that no matter gender, race or religion, conflict will always arise. Not always but generally it is the men of the world who stand up for what they believe in, resulting in the battle of conflict between men. Frequently ending physically, men attempt to prove dominance in their competitive race through conflict, while women are forced to take a back seat. Despite the result of a male dominated conflict, the deeper consequences show a suffering and pain that is caused to the women who are affected most from...
