Adult Education to Make a Better Tomorrow Online Education, Online Schools The importance of adult education cannot be denied. It is a platform through which adults who were deprived of education in their early life can avail a chance to complete their education.
Bunnell, Jun 20, 2012 -- Education is one of the most important aspects of our life. It is through education that we open our eyes to the world and see what this fantastic and varied world has to offer. We can appreciate the huge and phenomenal strides we have achieved in all spheres of knowledge and more importantly it paves the way for our bright future. We can fulfill our career aspirations through education which in turn helps us in fulfilling our goals. Whatever field we choose, it is education which acts as a stepping stone in its attainment. Need of continuous education and learning is the essence of life. In whole lifespan we keep on learning new things and educating ourselves so that we expand our thinking and horizons and continue to grow as an individual. Thus, the importance of education cannot be underestimated. However, there are lots of individuals out there who haven't got the opportunity of pursuing or completing their education. Many individuals couldn't complete their education due to a variety of reasons. It is for this purpose that adult education exists and there are various programs imparting adult education. At the beginning it was just elementary education that was imparted through adult education, however, with the various innovations in technology, adults can now study till various degree levels and attain a college or higher education too. Thus, if you were unfortunate enough to drop out from high school, you have now got the opportunity to complete your education and get a high school diploma at least.
The concept of online education has changed the way education is imparted in the present times. You don't need to attend a classroom in person to complete your studies...
...CHALLENGES FOR ADULT STUDENTS IN FOSTERING EDUCATION
Higher education continues to change, particularly in terms of the student body. In the past, colleges and universities were often populated by recent high school graduates who were training for their first jobs. Today, the higher education institution includes people in just about every phase of life. No longer are people expected to stay in the same vocational field, and schools are increasingly gearing their programs and services to older learners who are interested in new fields, career changes, and simply learning about unique subjects. Of course, it can be a bumpy road for some adults, particularly if they have not been in school for quite some time. While some of these adults may be confident when it comes to professional skills, it can be an intimidating experience to step onto a college campus. With that in mind, here are a few of the major challenges that are sometimes experienced by adult learners.
The first challenged has something to do with time and energy, and how it is prioritized. The job or the family takes too much energy and the person does not intend to use the free time left on learning activities. We call this category "lack of time and/or energy". At first sight, this factor falls well into Cross (1981) and Darkenwald & Merriam (1982) situational barriers, that is barriers related to the...
...“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” ― Mahatma Gandhi
Adulteducation is very important because many elderly people feel helpless at times of need and have been dependent. Education can enable them to become more independent.
Many adults have not finished their high school education. A high school education is incredibly important; whether someone is trying to get a basic job, or is thinking about college, a high school diploma is needed.
Adulteducation is the way for those adults who did not finish high school to get their high school diploma and continue on with their lives. Adulteducation is at night, so that the adults who attend it may still continue to go to work. This allows these adults to continue to progress in their lives while adding more education to their resume and mind.
Education in its general sense is a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills, and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training, or research. It is education and enlightenment that lifts a nation to the heights of progress and greatness. Unfortunately, the situation in India, at least in some of the states, education is disgraceful...
...Community Based AdultEducation
A. Global Assessment of Community Based AdultEducation. This includes most important contributions they can make to society in the face of what are considered the most significant challenges of the 1990's. Who are the customers and how can they best be served? Which of the philosophies of adulteducation are most evident in each case?Adult educators in community based development identify with a specific content area or with a specific clientele. For example literacy (the adult reading programs established throughout different communities) and also health (aids awareness programs).
Aims and purposes of community-based adulteducation are usually directly related to specific community issues.
Community Development (strictly an educational process; everything else is secondary) vs. Popular Education (providing social skills useful to the oppressed).
Community-Based education operates on the assumption that a given community has potential to solve many of its problems.
The customers are the people in the community with common needs.
Paulo Freire is the principle thinker under the Popular Education.
B. What trends are evident (or can be expected) that will impact such institutions:
By Mortimer J. Adler
When I read Adler’s passage, "Education consists in the growth of understanding, insight and ultimately some wisdom. Only in mature soil, soil rich with experience, can ideas really take root", (Adler) my first reaction was to defend childhood education based on my work history and education. Children learn through play and through play they have experiences which are very much a part of their education. These are experiences that last a life time from their intellectual development to their social-emotional growth. I felt that the author was criticizing the education of young children by saying children are only trainable or schooled not educated by life experiences. After reading the entire article, I have come to the conclusion that we are all trying to achieve ultimate wisdom or education through life experiences with the strongest foundation being early training and social-emotional development.
Adler states that children are more trainable then adults. Through my experience I have found this to be true in many aspects. Children are able to learn and speak a second language just through interacting with peers that speak the foreign language. This process usually depends on the child and the level of language skills they already possess. Concepts and skills are learned through play and interactions...
1. Adulteducation is the process to provide education to the adult and aged people who, somehow, had failed to receive the elementary education during their childhood. The effort of providing adulteducation has been in existence for the past several years, as it is one of the most important things in building an educated nation. Unless the adults realize the importance of education they would never understand the need to educate their progeny. Education is one of the stepping stones for building a strong nation. Hence adulteducation is promoted on a large scale in the Indian sub continent.
Concept of AdultEducation
2. Most people make the mistake of looking at the concept of AdultEducation from a narrow perspective. To them it is nothing but a literacy program that is undertaken to eradicate illiteracy among adults in a country. However, AdultEducation, as a discipline has come a long way. It is no longer restricted to literacy alone. In a wider connotation, AdultEducation refers to any form of learning process that engages mature men and women beyond the confines of a traditional learning...

Education in India today is nothing like it was in Pre-Independence and Post-Independence Era. Education System in India today went through a lot of changes before it emerged in its present form. Presenteducation system in India is also guided by different objectives and goals as compared to earlier time. Present system of education in India, however is based around the policies of yesteryears. After independence, it was on 29th August 1947, that a Department of Education under the Ministry of Human Resource Development was set up. At that time the mission was the quantitative spread of education facilities. After, 1960’s the efforts were more focussed to provide qualitative education facilities. The present research focus on steps through which our indian education system had gone through. The basic moto of this research is to show that india has done serious efforts in education nd has shotremendous development but it is still lacking in comparison with developed nations. This study is an effort to suggest some measures for its improvement.

...A good education is crucial to a productive and successful future; without an education most people will find themselves struggling for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately many students and families are finding it difficult to secure a program of instruction that will meet their needs. Many school districts are failing to provide students with the flexibility of individualized learning and families are looking elsewhere to ensure that their children are getting what they need to be successful. Today, schools are being regulated by politics, reforms, and a one size fits all standard that fails to reach all students. There are many things happening around us that are the driving force behind students and families to seek out different options to the traditional educational structures. Class sizes are growing and state standards are greater than ever, but at the same time budgets are being cut and districts are being asked to do more for less. These reasons are why families look towards less conventional methods of education and move forward to programs that meet the individual needs of their children. Online education has grown impressively over the past two decades. The increased popularity and accessibility of the Internet and World Wide Web has created infinite opportunities for the non-traditional education through this medium (Karber, 2001). Today, online learning may be the answer when it...
