A Breakfast Tale Massacre
Eggs awaiting their death; a deadly mixer, and an almighty hand that controls the eggs’ lives are all thought-provoking elements of “An Egg Horror Poem”. Although many poems are fascinating to read, “An Egg Horror Poem” was engaging through the aforementioned elements, a realistic theme, light-hearted mood, and vivid imagery. By using all three of the great literary ‘musts’; namely, theme, mood, and imagery, the author, Laurel Winter, has written poem that will stand as a poetry classic for years to come. When I read “The Egg Horror Story” for the first time, it seemed a silly tale - a breakfast massacre of an inanimate object - but realization slowly started to sink in as I wondered, ‘what if these eggs are fertilized?’ It would certainly make sense as they feel things as stated “They jostle in their compartments “(Line 10). If that’s the case could this be murder? Or is it a satirical horror story? All of these elements add to the overall mood, whether the poem is read as a symbolic breakfast massacre or simply satire at its best. There is also a fine line through the mood of the poem between laughter, after all it is breakfast food, and tears, through mourning for the two eggs that die. The mood is exemplified by how the eggs are described as “dark and gloomy inside the refrigerator waiting for their fate”, to the obvious sarcastic comments by Winter, for example “clucked to them-merengues” (Line 19-20). These lines illustrate not only what is going on, but how the eggs cope with the loss of their dear cartonmates. One final point in regarding to mood is, “Before they can even jiggle they are alone again”( Line 31-32) These two lines show how quickly the mood can also reverse from laughter to sadness. The lines start with a funny play on words because “they jiggle”, which is what eggs do. The next line is serious, almost depressing, because, “the eggs are alone again” means their friends are dead and the remaining eggs are left to...

This is an extremely high percentage which indicates that these are effective and appropriate forms of advertising. On The other hand, 35% of people who have heard of Berkshire cycles have not seen any advertising of any form. This suggests that Berkshire cycles need to use other...
...This is probably the most extensive and most in-depth account of my Habbo career I have ever written and if you read it, you either deserve a gold star, or you must really doubt my credentials...
And, if that's the case, I like you.
I joined Habbo in the summer of 2007. I came across it through an ad in one of my many other internet conquests. I discovered Habbo militaries almost immediately and joined a military called the "Royal Army" owned by ".Webster". It wasn't the most sophisticated military, however, it provided an environment that was conducive to both my needs and wants at that time. I managed to work there for some time and befriended a superior of mine named "jim.jim" who took me under her wing in sorts and helped me rise up through the ranks. Unfortunately, RA got continuously closed and stickies trashed leaving very little record of newer cabinet ranks like myself. This led to me stepping away from RA and Habbo as a whole for a considerable amount of time.
I returned to Habbo out of mere curiosity during the summer of 2009 and stumbled upon DoD owned by "DefenseDept"/"-=Tiberius=-". I lobby camped there for several days and became friendly with member such as "kenny536". It was during one of my conversations with Kenny that -=Tiberius=- came in and told me to shut my mouth. I very politely replied that I didn't understand what I was doing wrong given that our conversation wasn't wrong in any way. Apparently, the opening of my mouth led me to a ban....

...Clash of Cultures: The Deerfield Massacre

Clash of Cultures: The Deerfield Massacre
It was a cold winter of 1704 and an English settlement that was in the mid Connecticut River valley, became a place for a great intercultural, international conflict. Deerfield was raided by French and Native forces in an ongoing struggle with the English for control of native lands and resources. Native American peoples; French, English, and Africans; soldiers, ministers, farmers and traders; men, women, and children; they were all affected by these conflicts. Deerfield had been prepared for this attack as they had gotten word that it might happen. They had soldiers and a fortress ready, although it would appear to not be enough.
Deerfield was ready and had protected itself inside a high fence, many hired soldiers to patrol and be lookout in the streets at night. Also to be scouts to prowl in the woods, all making the citizens of this town feel safer as there were many families living inside this stockade. The minister of the town, Rev. John Williams was known to be a target and also a leader in this community. In the days before the raid, Rev. Williams wrote that they had days of fasting and prayer in the local church and he thought “that the town would in little time be destroyed.”
The French led the attack and set out that early February night moving south from Canada (New...
...impossible task, but there is one occurrence that has seemed to captivate me – and that's the Boston Massacre. The webpage I found communicates the basic – but most important – events of the massacre, it depicts the events through writing and shows an image of "The Bloody Massacre", so the webpage was interesting in my eyes.
In the 1700's, people were known as either the patriots – whom supported the colonies – or loyalists – whom remained loyal to the British. In 1770 when British troops were sent to the colonies, patriots became angry. "A "patriot" mob, throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks" (Robert King, "The Boston Massacre", ushistory.org) started the street fight. When Captain Thomas Preston called in more soldiers to help defend, they were attacked. Consequently, the soldiers fired at the mob and killed five civilians. The Captain and soldiers were called into trail and defending the British were Josiah Quincy II and John Adams. The attorneys for the prosecution were Samuel Quincy and Robert Treat Pain. Preceding the trail, only two British soldiers were found guilty. At the conclusion of the summary of events of the Boston Massacre, the author proceeds to say that the Boston Massacre lead to a great part of American history – the Revolutionary War. "It led directly to the Royal Governor evacuating the occupying army from the town of Boston," (Robert Kind, "The Boston...
“The Boston Controversy”
March 5th, 1770 marks a day in American history where an event took place known as the “Boston Massacre”. This notable moment in American history was a spark in the colonies that eventually led to the American colonies taking up arms against England. The “Boston Massacre” was the iconic nickname of a riot in Boston that led to British soldiers firing upon of colonists on March 5th 1770. The major controversy debated is whether or not the British officer on duty at the time gave the order to fire on the crowd or not. There have been many different stances on the argument but the fact of the matter is that the British officer in command did not give the order to fire into the crowd. To better understand why this British officer did not give the command to fire on the crowd one must first look into the situations in Boston leading up to March 5th 1770.
Boston in 1770 was a very volatile place in regards to disdain between the colonists living in America and their British counterparts. Two years prior in 1768, two regiments of British regulars were quartered in Boston to assist in instilling British rule on Boston1. This, along with the Stamp Act and Townshend duties, which were more taxes the colonists had to pay, placed upon Boston which angered the people to the point of riots before set a tone for an anti-British sentiment in early 17702. The soldiers in Boston in many cases caught...
Assignment: A tale of two divorces
In “a tale of two divorces”, Roiphe made a statement “my divorce is the tale of two divorces, one that never was and one that was”. The first divorce is her mothers, but the divorce never happened. The second divorce is hers, which did happen. The reason she uses the word “my” in her statement is because, her mother’s divorce which never happened was the reason she had a divorce of her own. Unintentionally she had been following her mother’s foot step without meaning to.
The beginning of Roiphe’s essay, she talks about how her father mistreated her mother and made her feel worthless. He would mentally abuse her by telling her harsh things. Make her cry and then scream at her for crying. Her mother started to believe them. He told her mother she was not pretty and he didn’t love her. He would cheat on her and she knew. Roiphe’s mother did not leave her father because she taught she couldn’t be without him, she didn’t know how to. Roiphe’s mother ended up dying at the age of 50. She never divorced her husband.
Roiphe then talk about her own marriage. She taught she found someone that was the opposite from her father. But then she had later realized she was in a similar situation like her mother. Her husband cheated on her and she taught it was ok. She taught because they didn’t fight she was not in the same situation. By he made her feel worthless. When she...
